Gone But Not Forgotten
This is all that's left of an eight-storey building which, in the 1960's, was purpose-built for science research and teaching, named the Darwin Building. The upper floors were occupied by research establishments coming from Cambridge and London joined as one, named the Department of Molecular Biology. Lower floors were occupied by the Department of Ecology
The building had lain empty for several years (see extra from June 2020) while due for demolition, as asbestos was discovered in the construction and for some time it was shrouded in wrapping but now the demolition is complete.
