An Abundance of Joy
Well, the morning started out great! I opened the front door and overnight a new book had been delivered to my doorstep! Aha! As promised. Overnight delivery!
Yesterday I was watching Christiane Amanpour 's show on CNN and she was interviewing the author of Adventures in the Louvre. I was one of those visitors totally overwhelmed by the Louvre. After successfully heading directly to the Big Three, I found myself wandering aimlessly and confused, wending my way around who knows what! I realized that the Louvre had to be enjoyed in many, many small bits- and with a game plan - but I ended up going back only once. And was still confused. Apparently, according to Elaine Sciolino, I am not alone. And she says she can remedy that. She has written an entire book about it! So, let the learning begin, I said to myself and ordered the book.
NB: I am a sucker for buying a book after listening to an author interview.
After the doorstep, my next destination was our community mailbox which I infrequently visit...due to the overabundance of junk mail and the lack of anything personal or of interest But, today, the gifts just kept on coming! My France magazine! Love it! Methinks there is something French in the air this morning? Is France beckoning?
Being buoyed up by these lovely treats, I found the energy to head off to the local garden centre in search of sun perennials....I need shade ones too, but one thing at a time. I have many holes to fill out there in the garden, but today is the sunny side's turn. I got a bit carried away, and today's lesson? It is not wise to buy plants not knowing exactly where you will put them. I figured that I had the perfect place for that perfect little hibiscus, but, hmmm, not so. Now what? I have called Shawn who will drop by after work this week to help find homes for and plant the hibiscus and the other 12 plants I snatched off the SALE tables.
To relax in the evening, I watched two programs on CNN about New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina...seems it is the 20th anniversary? Has it really been 20 years? I am one of the lucky ones who visited the city before the hurricane. Twice. On TVO business.... which, on one trip, happened to coincide with Jazz Fest! How fortuitous!
Oh and my daughter called to say that she had been to a local artist's studio near our cottage and found the painted toss cushion I have been wanting.. and bought it for me!
It was a day full of things that made me smile!
