Grumpy Old Man

Exotica

I think we must have had a few drops of rain overnight, but we got up to a dry and dull day. I had a meeting this morning of the surviving members of the u3a Creative Writing Group - three of us! - to try to decide what to do as we have the AGM next Tuesday and would like to come to some decision.

Because there's already an 'Oban & Lorn Writer's Group' here, plus a 'Flash Fiction' competition organised by the Library, we eventually decided that we would 'lower the tone' a little and convert the group to a slightly more light-hearted one in the hope that we might have more success in recruiting members. We would encourage a less serious approach with a more laid-back style of writing, more humorous verse, maybe various word games as well as our current 'Instant write-up' of a mystery object.

The problem of a new name wasn't solved, however, with various suggestions put forward such as  'Fun Fiction', 'Trite Writers' and 'Fiction & Faction'.  We'll have to work on it. Any suggestions gratefully received!

The sun came out briefly after I got home, so I managed a cuppa outside - just!  My Blip today is the aerial view over my deck fence of my wonderful plant of Schefflera macrophylla, an amazing very nearly hardy shrub grown from seed collected in North Vietnam. Wonderful new growth.
