Parga, Greece
We went for a walk through the village as the sun was coming up which was lovely to see such golden light on the buildings. Adam went for an 8km run, much shorter than the 21km he did the other morning. We had breakfast and then went back to the pharmacy to get some antihistamine cream - there are a lot of wasps when we are eating meals on the boat and Anna has been stung twice!
We then set off for Antipaxos, but it was quite busy in our chosen bay and there was a swell in the water so I didn’t swim there. We admired a super yacht that was anchored nearby, according to an app that Luke is using it is currently for sale for £38 million and owned by a British oil tycoon - apparently when he sold his business he instructed the boat designer to ‘build him a beast’ and it certainly is quite a boat.
We moved to another bay on Antipaxos where we dropped anchor for lunch. There was still a swell which put me off swimming. Today was more overcast than sunny but it was still hot.
We changed our plans and decided to head off to Parga on the mainland to rather spend the night there instead of mooring off Antipaxos. When we arrived Luke and Adam swam off the back of the boat with the mooring ropes to secure them to rocks, as long line ashore mooring is used here. We all had fun swimming, snorkelling (we bought fins and goggles yesterday) and using SUPs. I swam around the boat about 10 times to do some lengths!
We had supper on the boat. Giorgos made us such a superb supper - grilled prawns, giant butter beans in tomato sauce, dolmades, fresh anchovies, salad, grilled calamari, which was then followed by fresh fish flavoured with fennel and lemon. It was a feast! You can see why we chose to eat on the boat instead of at a restaurant.
After supper we caught the water taxi into the town of Parga which was very picturesque and charming.
This photo is of the boat moored outside Parga - it’s the catamaran on the right of the image. In the extra is the fish we had for supper that Giorgos bought from the fishermen this morning.
