One bad apple...
I knew this was a song but it wasn't until I looked it up that I remembered it was by The Osmonds. Moving swiftly on.
My next thought was to argue the case that it's never just one bad apple that spoils the whole barrel/organisation, the barrel/organisation has invariably allowed the bad apple to spread its rot when it should have been alert to such a danger.
Or should I simply note that our house, along with the others on our stretch of road, was built in the 1930s on the site of an orchard which, I assume, explains why we have an apple tree in the garden. It's an abundant producer of quite tangy apples so we don't mind that quite a few drop before they are fully grown and quietly fester in the grass to the delight of wasps and other insect feasters. Until, that is, I get round to picking them up and putting them in the compost bin. The short section of hosepipe is only there for framing purposes.
