Back to nature
Today I attended my fourth funeral of the year and it was also the fourth time I've been to one at the West Clandon Natural Burial Ground. The funeral was for Jan, our former neighbour, who was 86 years old when she passed away. She was always fun company and the eulogy set out what a very full life she had led. It was good to catch up with her family and friends.
It was for the funeral of Jan's husband, Ian, who died shortly before lockdown in 2020, that I first encountered the peaceful surroundings of the natural burial ground. The services are held in the glass walled pavilion that can be seen at centre left of today's blip. Some much needed light rain had faded away by the time the funeral took place but the cloudscape was fittingly dramatic.
