Football is Back

I thought he might be riding the pine,
but there he is playing on the line.
This year he's wearing number 59,
and the season started off better than fine.

In a normal year, Merrick's school would field a freshman team, and he would play a lot. But we didn't have enough players, so Merrick is on the JV team, with both 9th and 10th graders. 

Last year he played both offense and defense, and he rarely left the field. Not so much tonight, but I think he was happy about how many plays that he was on the field. What else was he happy about?

The score. At halftime it was 34-0 in our favor, with the final being 50-0. I felt bad for the other team, but sometimes it goes like that. Thay just couldn't do anything right.

We went with our daughter Karen, and it was a long night. With traffic, almost 2 hours to get there, and another hour home. With the traffic, our cheerleaders didn't even show up until after halftime. Merrick had to ride the team bus both ways, so when we stopped to dine...it was without number 59.
