Welcome Peacock

A great early walk this morning in very pleasant weather. Although it’s always been a bit later (7.45) during school holidays it’s not going to revert to the very early start of 7.15 in September as S ( Wilsden Walker) is no longer going to be working on Thursdays, so hopefully no very dark starts through the winter though we may miss some sunrises.

We talked so much that I never got around to taking any photographs so I was delighted when I popped into the garden later and this Peacock butterfly landed on the path in front of me. Chris was following me out and I asked him to go back for my camera and it obligingly stayed put till I had taken a couple of shots. Blip sorted and only my second butterfly blip this year.

I was going out to cut back some sun flowers that I don’t think are going to revive after being left for two weeks without water, but a couple have new flowers coming. You can see how brown the grass is alongside the butterfly.  We’ve had a few showers over the last couple of days but nothing to alleviate the dry conditions yet.

Went to the first Community Singing session this afternoon since the summer break. They started again last week but we were away and there was no Monday session this week due to the bank holiday. It seemed to go well which is good as we are putting on a full concert in just over two weeks!
