Doing their own thing!
These sunflowers are growing through cracks in the stone patio circle, underneath the table.
Full marks to them for their resilience and perseverance!
I had filled the bird feeders once on that table, with sunflower hearts, and some must’ve dropped through the cracks!
I’ve watched them grow through all the really hot weather, and wondered how far they would get.
Now I see they have developed flower heads so I’m hoping that they will flower before we make a trip up to West Cumbria in a couple of weeks to see a friend of ours, (who was my bridesmaid), and my cousin who lives quite near to her.
It’s been a busy day otherwise beginning with a trip to the chiropractor, (me) and Stephen doing a stint looking after the grandchildren for an hour or so, when their mum had to go out for an appointment herself; our son taking her.
I picked him up a bit later and we had lunch followed by our usual circular, with a stop at the Farmhouse Bistro.
There have been frequent sudden downpours this morning and just a couple early afternoon, but they moved off.
There have been the most amazing towering white cumulus clouds sailing across the sky today.
The kind which look mountainous against the deep blue.
We haven’t seen many of those for a long time!
Feels like September this afternoon.
