Yellow rose…….

…….,just when I think it’s finally giving up after 19 years, (given to us when our son Matt died), it flowers again for the second time!
We were out very early this morning to go to the Ventura retail park at Tamworth. We needed a new single mattress, amongst other things. A trip to Hobbycraft was also included. Supplies stocked up for the regular Monday morning sessions with the grandchildren, and a mattress now on order to be delivered in a couple of weeks time.
Then also a look around a store for a tv screen which is one size larger than ours, which is quite small really, at 55 cms. We came home without one, so that will have to wait another day.
By the time we left it was absolutely heaving everywhere. Queues of cars arriving and the same thing leaving.
We drove straight to our favourite pub for lunch then.
I am now feeling rather tired.
Managed to do a bit more deadheading of the roses and removal of leaves with black spot after we got home, before it began to rain.
At this point I’ve decided to watch The Thursday Murder Club as I didn’t get much further than the beginning last night, when I decided I was too tired to concentrate!
It’s a bit like going to the cinema on a Saturday afternoon. Only with a mug of tea, a footstool, and comfy sofa. Except for our small screen of course!
If I’ve time to write about what my thoughts about it are afterwards, I’ll add a PS later!
PS: My thoughts on the Thursday Murder Club.
Part of the plot around Bogdan was changed and other bits tweaked, which was a shame.
I thought Pierce Brosnan was not the right actor for the character he was playing either. It just didn’t ring true!
The “home” itself seemed too opulent altogether.
In the book it is described very differently where, what I call, “ordinary“ folk were residents.
That said if you want to watch a film which is in a beautiful setting, with well known actors it is enjoyable.
But for me it felt disappointing.
At least it had used up some time on this wet and windy afternoon..
Otherwise, I would have been reading!
