Goodbye

We said goodbye to mom today.

I was just making breakfast when the home called to say that mom wasn’t so good this morning.
I went straight in, then messaged into the group calling everyone in.
Stewart arrived after an hour or so (I don’t really know about timings), and Eon set off.
Audrey called at the point that Cathie was dropping off treats for Jodie at my request and the doctor arrived to see mom. The doctor said it might be a day or two left.
When the doctor left I went to get my phone and continue talking to Audrey and or Cathie when Stewart came rushing down and said you need to come now.
So we all came and just sat with mom. Me on her bed, holding her hand and that of Stewart’s as he sat on the chair beside, Audrey on the phone by mom’s side and Cathie and Jodie on the floor and Eon very close to arriving.
I put some piano music on in the background and there we all sat waiting.
Eon arrived and Cathie left.
Charity was very kind (as were they all).
When the staff wanted to ‘sort’ mom we went and sat in the reception with a fresh pot of coffee. We sat and chatted there quite a while. In fact it was 7pm before we were leaving there.
Eon took Stewart home which worked out best for them. I drove home to get pizza which worked out best for me as I just cried and cried and realised that I couldn’t go in and order pizza! Pulled up at home just as Cathie was about to walk Scout round the block. So I told her she had to order pizza instead!
20min wait for pizza so we walked the dogs round the quiet bits of town. Picked up the pizza. Dropped Cathie back home. Went to Stewart’s.
We stayed there till 10 chatting.
Saw Eon into #11 (mom’s). Talked some more.
Home.
Where my girls welcomed me, and my baby kissed my face lots. And Cathie came down to be there too.
Lots of messaging different people in bed - mostly with Donna.

Can’t believe she’s gone.

But so so glad that she didn’t have to suffer on and so so glad that she was in a caring home with all her family round her.

The best mom ever.
