The last swim

We packed as much as we could into our last morning in Uig, including a swim in the river straight after breakfast. The conditions were perfect in the deep pool beneath the bridge, as blipped.

Back at the Hayloft we took showers, used up our remaining provisions with mugs of hot chocolate and scrambled eggs for lunch, loaded the car, and played a quick game of table football with Richard, Jo, and Julie. Then we headed for the ferry.

I'm really happy that we decided not to drive all the way back to Edinburgh tonight. Travelling mainly in the dark for a Saturday night 11pm arrival, followed by hunting for a parking space, lifting the tandem off the car and down the steps into its 'stable', and carrying everything else into the house, is not my idea of fun. Instead we booked into the Old Surgery bed and breakfast in Ullapool, and dined out at the Ceilidh Place. It will be much more civilised to drive back tomorrow morning in daylight to reach home at a time of day when it is easy to park and unload the car.

We played three more games of Scrabble on the ferry to end the series. The final score is: Mr hazelh - 13; hazelh - 3!

Exercise today: none.
