The Thursday Team at Rhuddlan Golf Club
SATURDAY
I don’t normally play for the Saturday bowls team, who compete in the North Wales Coast (NWC) League, but they were short of a player this afternoon so I stepped in to help.
The match, which was the last fixture of the NWC league campaign, was away at neighbouring Dyserth. I played in the first four and managed to finish my game before the worst of the weather hit—it was showery while I was on, but the remaining players got an absolute soaking.
Both teams were clear of the promotion/ relegation zone, so there was nothing at stake other than pride. I lost my game 15–21, and the team overall didn’t fare much better, with just three winners out of ten.
This evening our Thursday Clwyd League team enjoyed a meal together at Rhuddlan Golf Club. Over the season we’ve grown—not just as individuals, but as a real team: supporting each other, learning from each other, and enjoying the journey. With our matches now completed for 2025, we still have an outside chance of promotion, depending on the outcome of a postponed match (see Thursday’s entry).
During the evening we also took the opportunity to thank our non-playing captain, John, for all his support and hard work throughout the season.
It was good to get together socially, as there are players we may not see again until next April when the new season begins.
