Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Archie and I took a notion to go down town - haven’t been all summer!

Buses are still very busy, lots of people with suitcases. But we had a pleasant walk down The Royal Mile. Not too busy. But what was VERY busy, as usual, was The Milkman - queue right out on to the road. They’re doing something right! Their other cafe, at the bottom of the street was also mobbed. Mind you, they’re both tiny!

But we found a nice cafe with nobody in, big windows, quiet soundtrack (I’ve been before). Rather small scones, so easily avoided. It did fill up a bit by the time we left.

We walked through both East and West Princes Street Gardens. Couldn’t resist a photo of the gorgeous fountain, this time without the castle in the background. The story is that the naked lady on the top had to have her back to the church in the distance, lest she cause offence to the parishioners.

There was a shower while we were on the bus, but it had finished by the time we got off.

Archie went out again in the afternoon with JR, and they had a walk along the canal.
