Brand new backwards baby….
Another all go day.
Wee brother phoned as I was going round my cows first thing. He had this Fleckvieh cow on calving but the calf was coming backwards. So we brought her in and managed to get her calved . Luckily the big bull calf was still alive, as often when they come out backwards the chord breaks and they can drown before you get them out.
Next job was to make a start getting the grain tower and conveyors ready to fill with barley. I need to get some shed floors cleared to make enough room to get the 20 acres of oats cut when the weather picks up.
Openreach or BT or what ever they call themselves arrived in after lunch to start digging in the conduit for the fibre cable up the farm road so I had to go across the field to get out when I went down to the village to cart more straw home. By tonight I had finished all the wheat bales and cleared the last of the hay bales from our own field. Windy today but every time I thought that I might have a go at baling some more straw it came in rain again. A definite autumnal feel today……
