A stitch in time…..

What a day!
Wee brother phoned first thing needing a hand to bring in another cow having bother calving. Got her in the crush , had a feel and the calf was presenting all wrong, so called the vet. He arrived with 2 final year students to help. Long story short , ended up having to do a caesarean.
Got the calf out alive, hooray, but by this afternoon it had died , boo.
The students had a go at stitching the wound up and got on ok until the cow managed to kick one of them. She said she was ok ,but a lesson learned about cows.
Home by 1 pm, made a quick piece , said my goodbyes to Littlemiss who was heading back to Uni at St Andrews, and jumped onto the baler tractor to go and bale the last of the straw down at Oxenfoord. Was on the last row when the rain started so got there by the skin of my teeth.
Back home then went to deliver a load of feed barley to my cousins farm near Peebles.
Back home again by 6 pm , then off down the road to feed the heifers. They really need shifted to another field whenever I get time, but they will do in their current field just now.
Hopefully tomorrow will be less stressful, but probably not….
