Blue heron

I decided to have a walk at the Public Gardens this morning. Today is a holiday, so no traffic and street parking is free. I heard there was a blue heron hanging out in the pond so I was able to get a photo of him. The herons are migrating now and many of their usual ponds are almost dry, so they are having a difficult time finding food. Fortunately the water level at the pond in the Public Gardens seems only to be slightly lower than normal.
As I drove across the bridge I noted there was one cruise ship in and a second one was just arriving. When I arrived at the gardens one busload of tourists had already gotten off their bus, and started the tour of the gardens. A second bus was unloading as I entered. I was able to avoid the large groups for the most part. They had a nice day for their visit, sunshine and 25 C.
A friend posted that she was around Peggy's Cove today and there were lots of people there too.
After I left the gardens I headed for a garden center in Chester. I took the old road to get home, and also drove around the Aspotogan Peninsula. I passed several beaches, but didn't stop at any of them. There was no parking available.
The plants have been unloaded, the tools are back on the truck ready for tomorrow. And I am watching the weather forecast for next weekend.
