The Pensioner

Bad Planning

I’d got today penned in as a rest day but it was Labor Day - a national holiday so nearly everything was closed. But hark, what is that? The skirl of the pipes? It surely was, tuning up in the car park beside us - the fire dept pipe band! And here they are 30 minutes later leading the parade.
After that we went to the only open museum - the Jewish Historical Museum. Some interesting sociology but too much uninteresting crockery. Then we walked - there are some attractive streets, some less attractive ones: we saw where the down and outs congregated, we had a beer at a microbrewery, an ice cream at the container village, met loadsa people off the cruise boat, and then I stepped off for a walk - 6km there and back, in the heat to the famous reversing falls. Let’s just say the SK had a better idea in sitting reading a book she’d bought locally. The waterfront redevelopment is pretty neat - makes you realise how far off the mark ours is.
A really enjoyable relaxing day - we quite unexpectedly loved this place. But onward we must go. Tomorrow!
