Ding Dong mine

Such a great name for this mine with the engine house here on the summit of this section of moor giving extensive views in all directions.
It was  abusy place back in time with for example sixteen working mnies in the area in 1782 and in 1870 there were two hundred men working there.
There is a legend from even further back in timewas that Joseph of Arimathea visited the area accompanied by the young Jesus to address the miners; somewhat unsurprisingly there is no evidence to support these beliefs other than a Victorian desire for England green and pleasant lands to be involved with the earliest Christianity!
