Windy Wednesday
The end of another long day finds me sitting at the foot of my son's bed, with soft music playing, and waiting for him to settle.
We went into school, first time ever on a Wednesday (all the nurseries in the area close on Wednesday mornings). I'd planned to drop Little Man off and then head home, but then I remembered that the parents and carers had been invited to join the school assembly. It was a lovely opportunity to see the whole school together with the staff and some of the other parents and carers. Little Man didn't see me sitting at the back, which was good. Some of my acquaintances from church, who live in Driebruggen, have really struggled with accepting my decision not to send Little Man to the same school as their kids. They've raised their concerns several times, but I'm doing what I feel is best for Little Man. He needs stability and familiarity. He knows the school and the staff. We have a move coming up soon and I want to minimise the upheaval he has to go through.
I did a few things around the house before I made a sandwich for Little Man and then went to get him. I'd forgotten to take some gym shoes in for him to use in the school's on-site gym hall, so I found them, marked them and took them in. The staff and I have decided to give Little Man some time to adjust to school life. So I'm currently collecting him at midday so his days aren't so long.
It has been very windy today (with thunderstorms in the forecast) and so we biked straight through to Reeuwijk for Little Man's speech therapy appointment. It was hard going because the wind was gusting away at around 35 kilometres per hour (21.75 miles an hour). We had a crosswind almost all the way there. We did a spot of shopping and went into a bike shop to have my front tyre checked¹. We spent a couple of hours at the park near the therapist's office and in the school field in front of the building before our appointment.
We fought the crosswinds coming home and had mini-pancakes poffertjes for dinner before a bath and Little Man going up to bed. I hope it doesn't take long.
¹My front tyre has been regularly deflating almost completely within 24 hours. The repair man said that if it still doesn't hold the air, I should have the inner band replaced.
