Oslo
The internet is good for finding out what is on offer and how to get there, and the day was spent walking, initially looking for a bakery for breakfast, a lovely place with its own bakery behind the cafe. On to the city centre which is spacious and clean with many parks, fountains, seating areas and food outlets of all descriptions, the sun was shining making it all feel easy. We had to view the opera house, in extra with the roof coming down into the water, somehow we didn’t get to climb it, next time! The harbour area appears to be based on tourism with this amazing looking ferry coming in, extra, not sure how that would go down with Calmac. Near by a few sauna huts with people dipping into the sea water afterwards, the city hall is a huge red brick building celebrating 75 years, opposite here are more ferries that cross the fjord and visit islands. We hope to take one on our next visit in two weeks. My main bf was taken of a paving slab outside the Nobel Peace Centre, situated near the harbour. Ironically afterwards a walk through the huge military area, with huge brick buildings looking out over the fjord. The only evidence of action seen was of horse dropping’s strategically? placed, no doubt it will be a job for someone to clear later on.
It was a wonderful day, exhausting although the aim is to take regular breaks for a drink. For the evening meal we tried Turkish, a meze, one between us would have done, we never learn. It was interesting and tasty, they offered to pack up the remains however we are moving on tomorrow and couldn’t accept.
The pink car: a hairdressers called Cool Kids, who wouldn’t want to go there for a hair cut, and the statue was one of four on each corner of a bridge, amazing and bizzar.
