Cake.....
WEDNESDAY
After a damp start to the day, the skies finally cleared, and we made a last-minute decision to drive 25 miles over to Corwen for a charity open garden event at Aberclwyd Manor in Derwen.
Apple Maps had its own ideas for the route. It sent me along narrow tracks, and at one point, while descending a steep single-lane road, I came face-to-face with a bus on a sharp bend. I had no choice but to reverse uphill and around several bends for nearly 400 metres.
We eventually reached Aberclwyd Manor at 3 pm, with an hour to spare before the advertised closing time. Sadly, there was no sign of the garden being open or of the promised cream teas. With little else to do, we turned around and headed back.
As a consolation, we stopped off at The Lodge at Llanrhaeadr for coffee and cake.
