THURSDAY

The morning was a complete washout, best spent indoors watching to the rain.

By early afternoon the rain had stopped and things were looking hopeful. I’d been asked to help out the 'A' Team for their evening match, and their WhatsApp group suggested that  the green might just be playable.

Unfortunately, a sharp downpour around 4 pm  dashed those hopes.

I reported at 5 pm, and although the sun was shining, the green was waterlogged and an inspection deemed it unfit for play. The opposition agreed, and we decided to postpone the match for 24 hours—so, back again tomorrow.

Meanwhile, in the lower division, our rivals Dyserth B were due to play their rescheduled match against East Parade. They needed eight points to snatch promotion from us, but their green was also under water, so that match too was postponed.

By 5:30, plans had shifted from bowls to birthday celebrations, and we headed off to The Castle Inn to raise a glass for fellow member Max.
