Mizuna

Brassica japonica.

Mizuna, when young, is a salad vegetable. However, the mature plants are very frost hardy, which makes them useful in other ways. This outdoor plant has provided me with fresh greens for my winter soups for a couple of months.

Now I'm getting pleasure from the flowers. They are such a bright yellow. These flowers are about 15mm across.

The mizuna seedlings in the greenhouse are growing so fast at present that I can see the difference in their size from morning to evening.

The dry wind is continuing. We are no longer soggy. Today I had to get the hose out to water the outdoor pot plants because some were wilting.
