The Swimming Hole

It was Pig and Pint night lst night at the Italian restaurant we like to go to. The place was hopping with people drinking beer from the North Coast Brewing Company and waiting for plates of roast pig from the barbecue out in front. We opted for the Monday night special of Bucatini and meatballs, which comes with its own carafe of Sangiovese, and sat back to watch the people enjoying themselves and the waiters rushing to and fro keeping the potential for chaos down to a minimum.

Our options for water for Ozzie to swim in were limited this morning due to lack of water, alien algae blooms, leash laws or no dog policies (as is the case in the state park we see from our kitchen window), when Dana remembered that her boys used to swim in a swimming hole not far from home.

We set off down Channel Drive, a paved road on the edge of the state park with very few cars, lots of bikes and some dogs (including one dog walker with 7 or 8 dogs of all shapes and sizes clipped into a carabiner on his belt, walking along in a business-like fashion). It had been a few years since Dana used to run in Annadel State Park, but she found the wide spot in Santa Rosa Creek where Ozzie could indulge in his addiction and Rudy could dip his toes in the water

Our neighbors from Magnolia Street, up here to visit their financial advisor, dropped by for a visit and filled us in on all the latest news from the old 'hood. I feel that everything should be wildly different, but it's only been 9 months, and not much at all has changed. We were pleased to hear that the young couple who bought the house from us are expecting a baby, since that was one of their professed goals if their offer for the house was accepted. We are actually the ones for whom everything has changed....
