Life in a Northern Town

Trouble at' mill

Except the mill is now full of apartments, so there's probably not much trouble there any more.

A very typical Huddersfield view, valleys and hills, former mills and craggy outcrops. Taken this afternoon on a very long walk with the dog - we are attempting to wear her out so we don't feel too guilty at abandoning her when we go to the temple of consumerism that is the Trafford Centre tomorrow. Expect a Blip of something edible from Selfridges food hall.

Today we shopped, walked the dog, ate lunch, walked the dog some more, went for back to school haircuts, bought some new sheet music and I did lots of piano practice - I am all enthused again, see how long that lasts! Then I had a long telephone conversation with my mother, blaming all the problems we have in society on Margaret Thatcher. That was fun!

Now, off to make tea before walking the dog some more - if she hasn't hidden herself away to avoid more exercise.
