Glück - Joy

Winston Churchill is supposed to have said:
"No hour of life is wasted that is spent in the saddle".

A German saying is:
"Das größte Glück der Erde liegt auf dem Rücken der Pferde."

(The greatest joy on earth lies on the back of a horse)

An adapted quote from Friedrich von Bodenstedt roughly translated as:
"Paradise on earth, lies on the back of a horse
The good health of the body
And close to a woman's heart"

Others have a different view, people like Ian Fleming
"A horse is dangerous at both ends and uncomfortable in the middle."

Today we visited an agricultural "hardware" supplier, with a  bit larger horse & rider range than the average such shop. They have a good paper catalogue but a poor internet site, even though they seemingly try to be in the internet shop business. Interesting to have seen it, but not a "wow" experience. Angie did however buy me a present. How very kind! Well, at least we got out of our 4 walls for a few hours on a slightly warmer and dry day.

The sun is due tomorrow and a few good days are forecasted. Trying very hard to ignore the Blips that mention autumn! We all know how wonderfully warm and sunny September can be in the Northern Hemisphere, so think positive, leave the Pimms Winter Cup on the supermarket shelf  and have a great Thursday all Blipers.

PS Have the feeling the word "Joy" is underused, that's why I used it instead of "Happiness". Joy seems to have more bounce.
