A normal day

Stitches out after 14 days, a bit long as we didn't want a repeat of last time's night visit to A&E to have it restitched. Bit more difficult to pull but I survived.

While Angie was at fitness/sauna this evening, I popped over to the Dampfsäg (Steam Sawmill) at Sontheim a complex built in 1890 when the industrial revolution eventually reached this rural area. The main hall not built until 1917 has a spectacular wooden roof based on the designs of the French royal architect, Philibert de l`Orme (1510 – 1570). It's the last remaining example of it's kind in German speaking Europe.

After the mill closed in 1988, it was converted in to an events, meeting complex. Thursdays are "Bio" Market but mainly the visitors come for beer and food, in summer using the beer garden. Every other Tuesday a film night (screen can be seen at the back of Blip). For 5.00 Euros, you get to see a wide range of films, not generally the blockbusters but recent  interesting releases. Makes a change to watch a film with beer & sausages on a table rather than popcorn & coke in a velvet red chair. In summer the market is often followed by a jazz evening, this evening a semi political meeting organised by the local nature conservation as a forum to discuss the road building projects in the area with some of the politicians campaigning for the September, national and Bavarian, elections.

As I was taking the photos, MrB called saying he was doing his varroa mite treatment at his beehives and would be over in 10 minutes, so dashed home arriving just as Angie & MrB turned up. Jumped out of the car with all my bits & pieces which I put on Angie's car roof and quickly donned my beekeeping gear. Treatment done quickly, putting a kitchen sponge with formic acid on top of the combs. As he had come on his tractor with a few empty bees hives we did some  maintenance/cleaning. It was now dark and Angie quickly drove over to a friends place to lock up her chickens for the night. As MrB fired up his tractor showing me the newly installed lights, it occured to me that apart from the days post, my mobile had been on Angie's car roof. Found the post strewn over the 100 yards or so to the main road but no mobile. MrB then tried phoning me and we saw a light go on in the middle of the road. It was the phone which was still working. just the rear cover had come off and been  damaged by a car. Will have to tape it up (like those who have plasters holding their glasses together). MrB being somewhat more up-to-date tells me I should anyway throw the 5 year old thing away especially as the local electrical shop has a special deal on iPhones as they are getting in the first iPhone 2 deliveries. Just like the industrial revolution took longer to reach this part of the world .......
