They Don't Make Land Anymore

I was delighted to find a brief history penned by my grandfather. He was born in 1874 and came to Canada in 1918. He purchased a quarter of farm land (approximately 160 acres) in the Swalwell area, for $7000. A year later he bought another quarter for $4500. How shocking to see today's price for a quarter of land in that same area - 299,900! But, then they don't make land anymore. It may also be of interest to you that the price of wheat in 1929 was about $30/metric tonne. Today's price? Over $8000!
