Brittle

This autumnal collection of herbs, flowers, and seed pods is part of a dried wreath which hangs on the basement door. It is extremely brittle, and every time I close the door, a small shower of bits rains down onto the kitchen floor.

When I first hung it up, two years ago, it was extremely colourful, with bright red chili pods, purple Mexican sage, golden yellow yarrow, orange safflower, and green bay leaves.

I think it's about time to find a replacement!
