The view from Cairn o' Mount

Heading south for the weekend I decided to use the unofficial Aberdeen bypass and head from Inverurie to Banchory then over the Cairn o' Mount road to Fettercairn. It was a lovely run, and not too busy, plus none of the city traffic jams. So until the western peripheral is built this will be the route of choice, ok in August, less so in the winter!

I love the view from the top. You can see almost the length of Scotland. Well, at least from Aberdeenshire to Fife! It brought back a lot of memories too, of working at the deer farm at Glensaugh, of my dear friend Stewart who loved these hills, and of 1977, the Queen's silver jubilee year when I stood on this very spot and watched the beacons burning on almost every hill all the way south as far as the eye could see. And later discovering Rusty Nails in the pub at Auchenblae!

Now safely ensconced in Bannockburn and enjoying a catch up with my Mum and looking forward to a few days together, and the DTAS conference in Cumbernauld.
