Treasure or tat?

I gave C a metal detector for his birthday as he has always fancied having a go. The beach seemed the ideal place to try it out and we had a laugh when after an hour using a very inexpensive piece of kit, we had found a variety of 'treasure'- old nails, can tops and rusty nails and 12p.
