The exhibition

Today was the preview of the Embroiderers' Guild exhibition based on the Lindisfarne Gospels in the Queens Hall, Hexham. The second half of this exhibition comes to Hexham Abbey in 2 weeks time. The embroideries look even more wonderful than in Durham Cathedral, because they are well lit. Do try to see them.

At the same time, you can see an exhibition of the Whitby series of paintings by Paul Stangroom. I stood on the stairs above and watched people as they took in these large, intricate paintings. Do read about them on his website. I'm amazed by the 3D result when I converted this to mono. The series is stunning.

After all this culture, I headed to P and P's for their annual BBQ. This is always a superb event, but very special this year because Mrs P is nearly at the end of chemotherapy. She is so positive and was determined to go ahead with the event despite having a very torrid time recently. We ate and drank well, enjoyed the garden and the chatter and the garden games. Mainly we enjoyed the great bond of friendship between the people there.

I had to have a little nap after all of this.........
