Journey Through Time

Grey Hairstreak

I went on my blip safari and I'll be darned if I didn't spot this butterfly on our coneflower and I knew it wasn't a cabbage white. It cooperated with me by staying put on this flower for a very long time, but kept it's wings tightly closed, but I managed to identify it just now. This may be very common, but since we get few butterflies in our yard, I'm tickled pink to have seen this guy. This bee was trying to scare off the butterfly, but this one held it's ground.

The Gray Hairstreak, is one of the most common hairstreaks in North America, ranging over nearly the entire continent. It occurs also throughout Central America and in northern South America.
