Holy Hand Grenade?

As our leaders do everything in their power to persuade us of the need to unleash their dogs of war onto another Middle Eastern state, it's worth recalling the words of Mahatma Gandhi, "What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty and democracy?"

At the same time, we should also ponder the terrible words that are carved on almost every western war memorial in praise of our "Glorious Dead", "who gave their lives or freedom, truth and righteousness."

Where's the glory in dying – or killing – for lies and propaganda?
