Nobbly Nuts

The fruit of the leylandii tree in the garden (that will soon* be no more).

So, Rentrée day arrived for CarbBoy (back to school) and he skipped off quite delightedly. Well, truth be told he hobbled off slowly, so heavy was his bag with all the stuff he had to take in on his first day. TallGirl helped with his send off and then joined Mr B and I for some shopping. Despite Mr B's horror at the fish equipment purchased, I will not have a member of the family die for lack of looking after. So, Mendel is now installed in a tank (plastic box really - the tanks were very expensive) with filter and bubbly water maker thingy, interesting fake log with greenery and weird looking fake greenery too. And a small dolphin. And some food. And quite delighted he looks with it all too.

This afternoon saw a trip to the high school to take the rest of the endless bits of paper they need before they'll accept TallGirl as a pupil (including yet more stamped envelopes - honestly if they need to send anything to me they can just give it to TallGirl like every other school in the world....) TallGirl had a momentary wobble of nervousness when she saw her new headteacher, but generally she is dealing with the big school transition with great insouciance.

Let's see if she still feels that way at 8.30 tomorrow...

More Blackadder tonight. The one with the explorers - that went down rather well. But then drinking wee will always go down well with kids, I suppose. (Snigger.)

*Chopping it down has been top of our jobs list for so long now that I think the tree probably thinks it is safe. Trouble is finding a time when no birds are nesting in it, but the weather is still good enough to contemplate the job.
