Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

September Ritual

Every May we drag this grey rowing float off the beach at the end of the bay to attach to our dock and every september we put it back up on the beach. It needs to be rid of a lot of creatures that grow (mussels, barnacles, starfish...) on the bottom. We were planning on floating it up at the high tide today after 5PM and then trying to figure out how to get some help with the rest (H and I used to do it by ourselves - but it’s gotten heavier!) but our neighbors said they would help if we did it early before they left today fir school. (Harder at a lower tide.) Can’t pass that up! Even tho it was raining then-it cleared up.... So we are enormously grateful for the help of our good neighbor and his teenage son, a friend of the son, and his father. For the first time ever, I just took a few photos and didn’t have to lug a line. Only drove the boat bringing it down. (There is a generator and a wench, but it still involves some elbow grease. ) I’m getting the idea that some of the neighbors are looking after us “old folks”. But NO complaining! They are so helpful! And now we don’t have to enlist friends on boats ( like Musings...) or other friends of ours who are getting increasingly unable for one reason or another...and are NOT too excited about such requests. :-)

So since this is one of the big work reasons we are here now, it had to be the blip. Here you have the collaboration of husband H, our neighbor and the 2 teenagers. I’ve put a few more on flickr only if you’re interested in this sort of project. (pretty dull if you’re not....)
