Field of Dreams

Rick and I are both dreamers who persist in believing that you can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it. We are both married to more practical people who tend to put the brakes on our fantasies. Probably a pretty good combination all things considered….

The current daydream involves buying the field behind our house(we have already made a beaten path through it from our back gate to the road behind us) and putting a very nice small pre-fab home on it for Meg and Rick. BluHomes makes several different models of "green" homes that can be put on the foundation you have built in two days. I takes another month to finish the inside and have it ready to move in.

There are a lot of challenges involving "perc tests", "engineered septic systems", city codes and negotiations and, of course, money--quite a bit of it. Rick is really good at negotiating his way through the maze of codes. OilMan and I are really bad at it. Rick and I believe that there's nothing wrong with following your dream. OilMan probably believes it would be a nightmare.

We are having drinks with Cindy and Bruce soon. We'll run it by Cindy (our former realtor and current neighbor) ….
