Battered

I don’t have many books on my shelves because I almost exclusively read on my Kindle. These two exceptions live on the bottom shelf and however old and battered they get I can’t see myself ever throwing them away. They are both from important times in my past.

A friend bought me the dictionary in 1975 when I started to read again. Currently I can’t imagine a life without reading but after leaving school I just seemed to stop, maybe my life was too busy with other things.

The Bible is my school Bible. We all received one when we started secondary school so that’s been around since 1962. It looks like it’s much read but it isn’t. It just seems to have gone into its own physical decline. Rather like me.
