Life through the lens...

By ValC

Steamy windows.

Such a change in the weather today, but we were warned!

The first time the kitchen window has been steamed up for months.
Cold and wet outside, warm in.

Shopping this morning.
The farms are glad of the rain!

Baking this afternoon.......orange tea loaf.

Comfort food for tea.

Daube aux Olives.
Beef cooked slowly with tomatoes, carrots, onions, fresh thyme, strip of dried orange rind, garlic, bay leaves, pinch of nutmeg, clove, and Tapenade (black olive paste)

This recipe is from Provence.
It is in Mireille Johnstone's cookery book which accompanied a BBC TV Series
" A Cooks Tour of France". Broadcast in October 1992.
She was such a charming lady, and it was a series we loved.
I wish they would show some of it again.
I wonder if any of you remember it?
