Paddle your own canoe

New students arrive at Stirling University this weekend and are learning sharp to paddle their own canoes.

Here some of them have already joined the uni kayak club and are having their first lesson on Airthrey loch.

I was there this morning to do a presentation on the work of HOST to incoming international students. We have been volunteer hosts for many years and as the regional organiser was away on holiday I got asked (coerced more like it) into doing the talk.

Stirling University has a strong reputation for welcoming international students with 23 per cent of the student population from overseas and over 100 nationalities represented on campus.

They form quite a formidable bunch and to say I was nervous would be an understatement…
