Blue cones

When it comes to gardening patience is a virtue.

This blue Korean fir ( Abies Koreana ) was bought nine years ago and for the first five years sulked, not producing even one blue cone.

Last year we got half a dozen then the decision was made to move it to a better spot in the garden with more soil and light.
Suddenly our efforts have been rewarded with 104 blue cones.

While it is much loved by bonsai enthusiasts we have no intention of trimming ours. It now stands at over 6ft and should reach 15 ft.
