Another Day in the Water

We couldn't resist going to the swimming lagoon for the second day of the "Dog Bark" event at Spring Lake Park. I decided to leave my camera at home today because there tends to be just too much water around--excited dogs, wet dogs, excited people, wet people. Ozzie is still wet, and I have a large muddy paw print right about where my camera would have been hanging around my neck...

OilMan and I finally got around to the dreaded vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning chores deferred from a week ago when Rick and Meg arrived a day before we I thought they were coming. Our neighbor Paul, who is a bachelor for two more weeks while his wife is on a garden tour in Provence, is coming for dinner tonight. It seems so pointless to clean since it just has to be done again in a few days, but our windows are a testament to what happens if you don't do anything....

Back in April, I found myself going to a prom dress fashion show--something I could never have imagined myself doing in my previous life. Recently, my neighbor Cindy invited me to a party at which clothing would be shown, and available for trying on and ordering, another kind of event I didn't even know existed. Friday night I went, and I had a great time doing something completely different...well, not the spending money on clothes part....

There was a table groaning with food, a punch bowl full of Cosmos (vodka, cranberry juice and triple sec) and a tub full of wine bottles. There were racks of clothes and a "consultant" to show us through them. The hostess' husband had been dispatched to his office with the VERY LARGE dog to watch the Giants game, so that thirty women could take off their clothes for the purpose of trying on other clothes. I liked the fact that we were seeing clothes on women who were all ages, shapes and sizes--not six foot tall skinny models of indeterminate age (though certainly not "a certain" age) It was very fun.

As a few of us were left, placing our final orders, the dog who didn't go to the office, a very large Bassett Hound named Hank (who has previously appeared in this journal), came in and helped himself to a few spring rolls and some chips....
