We had a very slow leisurely drive down to Balsham due to leaving a bit late from home and then getting stuck in the Friday afternoon traffic, but that didn't matter too much, as we're on our hols for a few days so are feeling relaxed about most things! We arrived just as the sun was setting over this very pretty village and once booked in at the pub we headed off for a quick stroll in the late evening sunshine - the temperature has dropped considerably though - and once back at the pub it was a quick change and then off to the bar and a fabulous dinner.

In 1015, Balsham was totally destroyed by Viking raiders. A sign on the village green commemorates the sole survivor of the attack who escaped by hiding in the parish church
