The Stables

It's been quite a week for music, and quite contrasting experiences too. First, there was the local Ukelele band on Saturday in a marquee in a market square. Sunday was Leonard Cohen in front of, I would guess, about 12,000 people in a huge arena. Tonight it was Sarah Jane Morris and Antonio Forcione at The Stables, the theatre set up by Cleo Laine and her husband, the late John Dankworth, in the garden of their home, with an audience of about 200! Cleo was there for the first half at least, and seemed to enjoy it. We've seen Antonio Forcione many times before; a brilliant guitarist ranging across classical, jazz, Spanish, you name it, he plays it! Sarah Jane Morris was new to us but apparently used to be in the Communards, and had a superb powerful voice. A very good evening.
