Temple Pets

These cows (is that the right term for them?) live right next to the Buddhist temple in my neighborhood. My Thai friend explained that they were probably given to the temple by someone making merit. Then some of the food and money other people give to the temple goes towards taking care of the cows.

Sometimes other animals are donated also. However, to give a cow is one of the highest gifts that can be given.
