Plaquer au sol

Water Olympics take two for Kids Club today because it was just so hot! Even the older “children” joined in because they thought it looked like fun. This Kids Club began with the game ‘Drip, drip, drop’…think ‘Duck, duck, goose’ but with a cup of water as well! Unfortunately this does mean that sometimes children fall over as they run round, so there were a few trips to deal with…and things got a little awkward when a much younger child (aged two) decided to join in as well (with mother watching I must add!) only to have an entire cup of water ‘dropped’ on his head by another child (aged four and a half, also with their mother!)…cue real tears from him and a tiny bit of smothered laughter from the watching parents.

The obstacle course was, as ever, hilarious…watching people try to keep water in their full cups while doing the obstacles (including hopscotch, marelle, island hopping and the farmer and the crow) and being sprayed by water pistols is always a good watch. It ended up with the entire campsite standing outside to watch the games and shout encouragement (or fire water pistols) at their children. We also had sporting activities in which each child could win water balloons and cups of water for their teams for the water fight at the end. My favourite event had to be “danger balloon” in which each team had to pass a water balloon over and under in a line to their teammates and the first team to have the leader back at the head of the line without smashing their water balloon!

The other half of our day off (as we couldn’t have a full day off yesterday) was spent by the pool, followed by a very hot game of touch rugby on the grassy area next to the beach...shown in this photograph of Thom being tackled to the ground by some of the customers! The game ended up with everyone going for a dip in the sea to cool down. Absolutley lovely evening in, with a barbeque and a time to really chill out.
