A feather in her cap

Today's dreich weather called for some creativity. On 19th August I pictured the flowerhead of the hydrangea 'Lady in Red'. All the blooms have faded bar one, on which I placed a very wet feather across its saturated bract-like flowers. There had been a bit of carnage in the garden recently which I'm glad to say I did not witness. Whether the attacker was cat or sparrowhawk I do not know, but plenty of feathers had been flying! So this is a tribute to the bird which met its Waterloo.
