Rust on the green

We're being told that some parts of the country are seeing a 'fool's autumn' - leaves turning brown and dropping due to drought not the changing season. Not here I think. These leaves of these trees - sycamore, ash, oak - are just beginning to react to the loss of chlorophyll in their annual deciduous cycle. Although nothing like so spectacular, I was reminded of the glorious tints of the Appalachian foliage around Hawk Mountain in northern Pennsylvania that I blipped three years ago.

The hedge here yields blackberries, hips, haws, sloes and rowan berries. And I picked a capful of field mushrooms as I made the most of the evening sunlight at the end of a very busy day.
