Scoots, Shoots & Leaves

Road hogs

We're taking up four or five parking spots on our street this weekend, having taken delivery of some items for our landscaping project: several pallets of pavers; a hopper of sand and one of gravel; a small dumpster, or dropbox that is filling up with soil and sod being removed from the back yard.

It's going to be pretty wonderful. I will actually be able to walk around in part of the back yard, and next year after our raised bed is built, I'll be able to grow some vegetables again! The crew worked all day getting the ground prepared (Flickr set here). But that was possible only because the crew of toddlers did such a fantastic job of emptying the sandbox (Flickr set here)! Even Ms. Z, who insisted using a 1/4 cup measure (~60 ml) rather than a shovel and bucket, managed to do her bit!

Tomorrow the ground will be compacted, gravel and sand added and the pavers laid in.

Liza is puzzled about her back yard changing. She'll have to go a bit farther afield to pee now!
